It may only be January, but it’s never too early to start thinking about what you’re going to do with the kids during the holiday’s.

Over the years, the staycation has become the norm for families looking for great fun without great expense or travel hassle. Admittedly we don’t have the most reliable summer weather, but the Lake District is known throughout the world as an area of outstanding natural beauty. So why not make the most of what’s on your doorstep and have an amazing activity holiday at home this year?

Now, I realise that for some the travel time means you could almost get to Florida within the time it takes to drive here, but who really needs soaring temperatures, white beaches, pina-colada’s and a talking mouse to have fun? Nahh! Sounds boooooring. Get that car packed – without worrying about baggage allowance penalties!
“Ok, Florida is out and the Lakes are in. Woohoo! What are the options?” 

Our Family Bundle is available throughout the various school holdays, and is an ever popular option. Whether you are a small family looking for fun with others, or a larger group looking for activities that will suit everyone from your 6yr old, to Grandma, we’ve got something for you.

 

Gorge walking is not just for the young ones!
Your Family Bundle can be booked with us whether you choose to stay in our family friendly bunkhouse, or your own preferred location – lots of ideas can be found on our websites accommodation page. For the least travelling during the week we recommend staying in or near Coniston, but anywhere in the South Lakes is within a 30 minute drive of our venues.

 

And in our usual fashion, we’ve made sure it’s as simple as possible to get booked in with us.

You can do up to two activities a day and you can decide exactly which activities you wish to do before or after you’ve made the booking; we are happy to advise good options. We can then arrange your activity itinerary for you using our expert knowledge of the locations and activities. We will also put you with other families with children of a similar age where possible.

“But we have an adrenaline junkie teenager and an 8 year old who needs a confidence boost. How do we keep them both happy?”

We’ve thought of that too. Within the bundle package you can split the family for some activities so that the older ones can do some more adventurous stuff, and you can also book a different number of sessions for different members of the family e.g. 3 people at 6 sessions and 2 people at 4 sessions.

As always we will try to be a flexible as possible in order to bring you the best experience.

And of course, it’s not just activities we offer these days. We also have our very own bunkhouse accommodation for families to stay in that can be added to the bundle.
Lowick School Bunkhouse

Lowick School Bunkhouse is set in the beautiful rural setting of Lowick which is only 9 miles from Coniston and 6 miles from Ulverston. It has 20 beds in 3 rooms (2 x 8 + 1 x 4) plus a lounge with table football & wood-burning stove, kitchen dining room, great views of the mountains, an outdoor area with campfire and more!

 

It is a fantastic location for walking, biking and watersports.  Grizedale forest and the Coniston Mountains are really near and there are some great walks either from the door or within 10mins drive.  Coniston Water, where we provide our lake based activities is also only 10mins away.

Families can book a 4 night stay with 2 activities from as little as £464 for 2 adults and 2 children! 

“This all looks amazing! How do we book?“

It’s simple. All you need to do is follow these steps:
  1. Book accommodation
  2. Decide how many activity sessions you would like to do during your stay
  3. Book in with us with your dates, no. of people and no. of sessions. You can tell us the activities you want to do as well, if you have decided.  To book we require a 25% deposit by cheque or card, plus contact details. You can book over the phone,via our secure online booking system, or we can send you a form.
  4. Then around 6 weeks/a month in advance we will finalise which activities you want to do, which days of the week etc.
  5. The balance is then due 2 weeks in advance.
