Valentines Activity Weekend
Why not join in our fun-filled Valentines Activity weekend for you to enjoy with your loved one?!
Saturday’s Valentines activities are action packed and involve getting wet and viewing the lake district from inside a gorge and then at the top of the scramble. Sunday’s activities are a little more relaxing and include Valentine Archery and a paddle on the lake in a Canoe. You and your partner can either take part in the entire weekend activities, just on the Saturday, just on the Sunday or you can both join in on just the Archery or just the Canoeing activity.
This was very popular last year and this year its even better as there is a special offer on any full day of activities booked in February and March - Only £60 per person per day!.
You can spend quality time enjoying a romantic Valentines active break in the Lake District being guided by a fully qualified and friendly instructor. We provide all the technical equipment and a hot chocolate drink so you can both enjoy yourselves in this shared experience.
Gorge Walk Taster and Scramble Day - Saturday 11th February
This is an adventurous day where you can share an experience doing something you may never have done before, with beautiful Lake District views.
Tilberthwaite Gorge Walking taster involves scrambling up the first section of the gorge and finishing off with a jump in one of the pools! This will allow you to share a brilliant gorge walking experience together! At this time of year, we enjoy running taster Gorge Walking sessions, but limit the time spent in the water because it will still be cold - a scramble based gorge walking experience is therefore the best thing to do!
In the afternoon, after enjoying a packed lunch (that we can provide for you for an extra £7 - please contact us for more details) you will experience our scramble adventure! The scrambling venue is just up the road up from the gorge and will get you warmed up and dried off from your adventurous morning activities. Our scrambling is a combination of single pitch Rock-climbing and Fell Walking. It involves ongoing small climbs up a steep ascent and although it is not clinging on to sheer rock faces with just your fingertips, you are roped up with a harness & helmet for safety. The beauty of this adventure is that it allows you access to areas beyond the casual hill-walker’s reach. Up there among truly impressive scenery, your journey will take you up 1000ft to a stunning view across the Lakeland fells and a real sense of achievement.
Archery and Canoeing Day - Sunday 12th February
This is a more relaxing, romantic day based at our Watersports base at the Waterhead Hotel where you could chose to enjoy a lunch together in the restaurant with beautiful views of Coniston Water.
Learning the basics and enjoying fun games in Archery in the morning. Archery harks back to Robin Hood, catching your dinner and the times when everyone in England had to be able to defend themselves with a bow and arrow. It can be one of the most peaceful and relaxing of our activities as you don’t really need to move very far but it is great fun and gives a great sense of achievement. We usually shoot in the peaceful grounds of the Waterhead Hotel in Coniston right by the lake.
The morning of Archery is then followed by an afternoon Canoeing on Coniston Water. Canoeing is a dry option (unless it rains!). We generally go out on Coniston Water in our extra wide and very stable boats. We explore the lake taking a journey, visiting a beach/island on the way for a break and a hot drink and sometimes play a game or two, when appropriate for the group. We can raft the boats together and, if the weather is favourable, hoist a sail – a very relaxing way to travel, but still one that everyone can be involved in.
