Our basic ½ day session is for those who would like to try Climbing. It is an introductory session that will include a few single pitches (not more than one rope’s length). This can easily become a full-day and could include some bouldering as well as a progression in difficulty throughout the day. A full day session is most likely to take place in the Langdale Valley. If you have already done some climbing and would like to take it further, we can arrange multi-pitch climbing or climbing instruction on higher grades with specialist providers.

What do we do in a typical Climbing session
The maximum number in a group is 8 and we would expect that in a standard 1/2 day session each person will make 2-4 climbs or more, depending on ability and the venue conditions. We teach climbing techniques and belaying in all sessions for beginners and for more experienced groups we will progress the tuition to include rigging and lead climbing techiniques.
All our outdoor activity sessions include elements of fun, learning new skills, going on a journey, adventure and coaching. Each session will have one of these elements as its main focus, either because the activity naturally offers it, (eg. Walking a journey), or to tailor the session to the groups aims. Be sure to let our office/your instructor know if there is something you would like to learn, do or have concerns about. We will always remember that you are doing the activity as part of your time off and so your enjoyment will always be our priority.
Through years of experience providing quality outdoor activities we include all those small things that make your holiday so unique and memorable. Such as average instructor to customer ratios of 1:5 (so you have more time and are not rushed) complimentary hot drinks, and much more.
Why go Climbing in the Lake District?
The Lake District is the home of rock climbing with the first ascent being made here by W.P. Haskett Smith in 1886 when he climbed Napes Needle, Wasdale. There is enough outdoor climbing in the Lake District that we are generally the only people at the crag (which is our aim).
