Directions to Station Road Car Park (LA21 8HU)
From the North M6 via Ambleside, A593 and Coniston
Go down the M6 to junction 40. Turn right onto the A66 and follow until Windermere A591 is signposted to the left, just before Keswick. Follow the A591 all the way into and through Ambleside. As you come out of the shops there is a BP petrol station and the road splits into 2 lanes, follow the right hand lane and turn right, signposted to Coniston A593. Once you’ve left Ambleside you’re on the A593 and this takes you all the way into Coniston. As you go into the centre of the village, you will go over a humpbacked bridge and then past a BP Garage. Take the next turning on the right up the hill (David Watts shop is on the corner). Follow this road up to the right and then to the left where immediately there is a road to the left. The car park is about 75m up this road on the right. This car park is a pay and display car park that costs £4 in coins for ½ a day and £6 for a full day. There could be space just outside the car park to park for free.
From the BP Garage in the centre of Coniston
Exit the garage forecourt turning left (away from the bridge). Immediately turn right up the hill (David Watts shop is on the corner). Follow this road up to the right and then to the left where immediately there is a road to the left. The car park is about 75m up this road on the right.
From the South M6 via A590 and Newby Bridge
Exit the M6 at Junction 36 and take the first exit on the roundabout on to the A590. After 3.3 miles on the A590 take the slip/exit road towards the A590 (the road you have now left becomes the A591 to Kendal). At the roundabout take the first exit on to the A590 (signed to Newby Bridge and Barrow - amongst others). After 16.9 miles turn right on to the A5092 (Greenodd, Coniston etc). Turn right here (A5092) and follow for 2 miles, until a right turn signposted Coniston.
Follow for 6 miles to a T-junction, turn right and follow into Coniston Village. Just after a very narrow bit, there is a crossroads, Take the left turn up the hill (David Watts shop is on the corner). Follow this road up to the right and then to the left where immediately there is a road to the left. The car park is about 75m up this road on the right.
