Directions to Hoathwaite Farm (LA21 8AX), Torver

From the North M6 via Ambleside, A593 and Coniston

Go down the M6 to junction 40. Turn right onto the A66 and follow until Windermere A591 is signposted to the left, just before Keswick. Follow the A591 all the way into and through Ambleside. As you come out of the shops there is a BP petrol station and the road splits into 2 lanes, follow the right hand lane and turn right, signposted to Coniston A593. Leave Ambleside on the A593 and follow right through to Coniston. Continue through the village on the A593 towards Torver and Broughton-in-Furness. The lake should be on your left. After approx 2 miles, you will see a left turn signposted for the Old Rectory Hotel. About 15m up the road, turn left down a farm drive. Continue on the drive right down to the lake taking the left forks at each opportunity (ignoring signs about stopping for a pass) and park near the gate to the beach area.

From West Cumbria via Ravenglass

From Ravenglass, follow the A595 (or take the Corney Fell road) to Broughton in Furness. At the top of the hill approaching Broughton, turn left towards the village and then immediately left again onto the A593 to Coniston. After about 5 miles you will reach Torver, noticeable by a long straight flat piece of road! At the other end of this piece of road are 2 pubs (The Wilsons Arms and Church House Inn) and a church. Continue past the church and for a further 300m, before taking the right turn signposted for the Old Rectory Hotel. About 15m up the road, turn left down a farm drive. Continue on the drive right down to the lake taking the left forks at each opportunity (ignoring signs about stopping for a pass) and park near the gate to the beach area.

From the South M6 via A590 and Newby Bridge

Exit the M6 at Junction 36 and take the first exit on the roundabout on to the A590. After 3.3 miles on the A590 take the slip/exit road towards the A590 (the road you have now left becomes the A591 to Kendal)

At the roundabout take the first exit on to the A590 (signed to Newby Bridge and Barrow - amongst others). After 16.9 miles turn right on to the A5092 (Greenodd, Coniston etc). After 2.1 miles take the right fork on to the A5084 (Torver & Coniston). After 6.1 miles turn right at the T-junction onto the A593 (to Coniston).

Continue for a further 300m, before taking the right turn signposted for the Old Rectory Hotel About 15m up the road, turn left down a farm drive. Continue on the drive right down to the lake taking the left forks at each opportunity (ignoring signs about stopping for a pass) and park near the gate to the beach area.
