Outdoor climbing activities take place on rock (slate, granite and limestone). We usually climb in the Langdale valley, Tilberthwaite and Coniston areas doing single pitch (one ropes length max) sessions. We specialise in outdoor climbing activities appropriate for beginner and introductory sessions. Other sessions are available by request as we choose the appropriate crag depending on ability and experience in the group.
We teach climbing techniques and belaying in all sessions for beginners and for more experienced groups we can progress the tuition to include rigging and lead climbing techiniques.
The maximum number in a group is 8 and we would expect that in a standard 1/2 day session each person will make 2-4 climbs or more, depending on ability and the venue conditions
The Lake District is the home of rock climbing with the first ascent being made here by W.P. Haskett Smith in 1886 when he climbed Napes Needle, Wasdale. There is enough outdoor climbing in the Lake District that we are generally the only people at the crag (which is our aim).
